In most Islamic Religious Education lessons, the teaching method is generally dominated by the lecture method as an approach to learning. It cannot be denied that this lecture method tends to minimize students' active role in learning, so that their thinking skills are often delayed. Using this lecture method can cause students to feel bored, so this method is considered less effective. The aim of this research is to determine the implementation of the peer tutoring method in PAI learning and also to determine the results of implementing the peer tutoring method in the PAI learning process on student motivation at SMKN 2 Ponorogo.
This time the researcher used a qualitative approach. Qualitative research is a method of research that provides discoveries that cannot be obtained from the implementation of techniques. This method focuses more on in-depth understanding, contextual aspects, and non-numerical dimensions rather than just relying on numerical or statistical data. The peer tutoring method has an impact on increasing students' learning motivation in the form of enthusiasm in receiving the material and increased self-confidence as well as increasing grades in Islamic religious education subjects.
The implementation of the peer tutoring method in Islamic Religious Education subjects has of course gone through careful consideration of the various backgrounds and characters of students, therefore the use of the peer tutoring method has a relatively good success rate. The enthusiasm of students increases during the learning process because students feel that they are providing knowledge. is peer-to-peer where there is emotional contact between students to attract other students' interest in the material being presented, then there is an increase in students' self-confidence due to the appointment of students as tutors which means having special competence and delivering the material in front of their peers, so students' self-confidence increases which This has an impact on the results of learning evaluations or tests held by teachers showing an increase in grades in the Islamic Religious Education subject at SMK Negeri 2 Ponorogo.
