Final-year D3 nursing students face high academic demands and are at risk of academic burnout, which can impact sleep quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between academic burnout and sleep disturbances among final-year students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo.
This study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach, using a stratified simple random sampling technique. A total of 53 respondents were selected from a total population of 109 students. The instruments used were the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was performed using a chi-square test at a significance level of 5% (0.05).
The results showed that 39.6% of respondents experienced high academic burnout, and 54.2% experienced sleep disturbances. The chi-square test yielded a p-value <0.001, indicating a significant relationship between academic burnout and sleep disturbances. Therefore, social support, stress management training, and a learning system that adapts to students' psychological conditions are needed.
The conclusion of this study is that the higher the level of academic burnout, the greater the likelihood of students experiencing sleep pattern disorders.
